Dr. Maja Bogataj Jančič appointed member of the National Council for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence
On Thursday, May 21, 2026, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia appointed members of the National Council for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence.
The National Council for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence was established under the Act on the Implementation of the Regulation (EU) laying down harmonised rules on artificial intelligence (Slo. Zakon o izvajanju uredbe (EU) o določitvi harmoniziranih pravil o umetni inteligenci) and will address ethical issues and promote the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
The government has appointed Dr. Maja Bogataj Jančič, Dr. Ivan Bratko, Maja Cimerman, Dr. Miha Mazzini and Dr. Hrvoje Ratkajec as members of the Council for a period of five years.
Maja accepts this role with pride and a great deal of responsibility, within which she intends to work primarily in the fields of research, education, the future of work, and justice, with particular attention to the field of AI, which operates in the public interest.
